THE NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP SERVICE API UPDATES…
Are to improve the quality of adverts on the government website, and in doing so the National Apprenticeship Service are updating the way Management Systems can work with them.
To ensure your NAS posting facility continues to function correctly, you will need to update your Apprenticeship Services Account API keys.
MANAGING YOUR APPRENTICESHIP SERVICES API FEED
To get started head over to your TalentPortal account and go to “Administration”.
From here, head to “Marketing Management” and then scroll down till you find the “Find An Apprenticeship Service API” feed.
Select the “cogs” icon and you’ll be taken to the management page.
Here, you will see several “Key entries” including your “UKPRN Number”, two “Recruitment API” inputs and an “IS LIVE” selector.
GENERATING YOUR API KEY
To generate your API key, please click on the “Create a Subscription” link at the top of the page. This will direct you to the “Get Started” page of the government website.
From here scroll down to the “Using our display adverts API if you are working independently” and select the “get and API key” hyperlink.
Enter your Apprenticeship Services login details to login.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you are logging in with your Training Providers “Owner” user, as no other user has access to the API keys. This user will most likely be a very senior member or your organisation such as the CEO or Managing Director.
Once you are logged in, head over to your training provider dashboard and scroll down to the “Recruit apprentices” card.
From here, you will be taken to the “Recruitment” dashboard – once again, scroll to the bottom of the page and select the “Recruitment APIs” link.
Then, scroll to the bottom of the “Get started with the recruitment APIs” page and under the “How do I access the API?” heading, select the “API keys” hyperlink.
This will take you to the “API list” page. From here you will be able to access your “Recruitment API key (Live)” and “Recruitment API key (Sandbox)”.
Finally, working between the TalentPortal and your Apprenticeship Services account carefully copy and paste both the “Recruitment API key (Live)” and “Recruitment API key (Sandbox)” into their respective fields and set the “IS LIVE” toggle to “False”. We’ll explain the reasoning for this in a moment!
It is vital that you copy and paste the API keys exactly as they appear or the service will not function correctly.
TESTING MY API CONNECTION
Before you begin using this service, your customer success manager will be testing this feed. Simply let us know when the keys have been generated and saved then drop GetMyFirstJob a note with the vacancy you would like us to test this on. We will need; vacancy name, confirmation that the employer is linked to your apprenticeship service account and we will do the rest 😊
